Choose organic

I am fit to be tied. For the past few years I have been on a rant due to the fact that I lost my beloved Sheltie to the after effects of sniffing the “perfect” (chemical-laden) lawns.

Now I am totally upset when I see all the caution signs on the Pavilions lawns. I am going to physical therapy there and I am just appalled that those chemicals are being used by an institution that is all about health.

My question is, why not choose the organic method if one has to have the “perfect” lawn, especially knowing the water run-off containing these deadly chemicals goes into the bay and Kids Creek?

City has no one to blame

Reading comments from the City Commissioners regarding the Traverse City Film Festival, who signs a contract without reading it very thoroughly? They have no one to blame except themselves.

I personally think the TCFF has done a tremendous job and I love all three of the approved items.

Qualified, experienced

I am endorsing Jan Warren for a seat on the Traverse City Commission. Jan has served for many years on the Planning Commission and on the Joint Planning Commission for the Grand Traverse Commons. Her listening skills, her understanding of complex decisions, her ability to make studied decisions is well known to all who have contact with her.

Of all the candidates for the four-year terms she is the most qualified, experienced and thoughtful in determining the future of the City.

More Fordite jewelers

I read the Sept. 9 article regarding Fordite, which stated that there were only about 10 Fordite jewelers in the nation.

Readers would be interested to know that at least three others besides Korner Gem are based right here in Traverse City. Some are: James Blanchard at Gallery 50 in Building 50; Gary Wilson of On the Rocks located downtown; and myself at Nawbin Beads and Curiosities on East Front Street.
