Prep Sports Roundup: Kingsley tops Frankfort

Kingsley scored 20 fourth-quarter points — all three on touchdown runs by Nate Zenner — as the Stags upended Frankfort 31-20.

Zenner carried the ball 30 times for 215 yards, and coupled with 101 yards rushing for Daniel Gelles, was part of a 328-yard performance on the ground for the Stags (3-1).

Zenner scored on runs of 6, 34 and 2 yards, with the first two scores giving Kingley the lead. His 6-yard jaunt put the Stags ahead 18-14 early in the fourth quarter, their first lead of the night. After Frankfort went back ahead on a 47-yard pass from David Loney to Mason Loney, Zenner scored again with 6:20 to go, giving Kingsley a 24-20 advantage. He capped off his night with 3:25 to play. Caleb Wetherholt booted two extra points and a 22-yard field goal to get Kingsley on the board in the first quarter.

Gelles had a 21-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, with Zenner running in the conversion.

Kole Hollenbeck, who led Frankfort’s running game with 102 yards on 21 carries, had the Panthers’ first touchdown on a 51-yard run. David Loney added the 2-point conversion and later added a 2-yard touchdown run. Loney went 6-for-16 passing for 125 yards.

Leading the Stags defense was Michael Boss with nine tackles. Austin Darga had seven tackles and an interception. Hunter Scott and Kelly Lark also recorded interceptions for Kingsley (3-1).
