EAST LANSING — The ride is over for Cadillac.
Benton Harbor jumped out to a 17-point lead at half Friday evening en route to a 69-52 win over the Vikings in a Class B semifinal at Michigan State’s Breslin Center.
The Tigers (17-9) are seeking their first state championship since 1965. They’ll play Milan in Saturday’s final.
Cortez Moore, a 6-6 senior, led the Tigers with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Jaton Gunn added 13 points, John Robinson 11 and Curtis Dawson 10.
Jalen Brooks scored 30 points for the Vikings, who finished 19-7. He was the only Cadillac player to score more than five points.
Cadillac, back in the semifinals for a second consecutive year, never led. The Vikings trailed 17-11 after the first quarter and 37-20 at half. Moore had 16 at the break. It was 58-32 after three.
Benton Harbor shot 50 percent from the field — 54.5 percent from behind the 3-point arc. Cadillac shot 40.8 percent — 32 percent in the first half. The Vikings hit just 2 of 14 3-point attempts. The Tigers owned a 39-28 edge on the glass.
Cadillac was within eight, 28-20, in the second quarter when Benton Harbor closed the quarter on a 9-0 run.
