Lenten lunch

TRAVERSE CITY — The public is invited to the second in a series of Lenten Luncheons sponsored by Church Women and Men United.

The soup, sandwich and dessert meal will be served at 11:30 a.m. March 13 at The Presbyterian Church, 701 Westminster, followed by music at noon. The Rev. Marshall Holtvluwer of Faith Reformed Church will reflect on the theme “God’s Sacrificial Gift of Love” at 12:30 p.m. A $3 donation is suggested to support local missions. Attendees also are encouraged to bring signed Easter cards to go to local wounded veterans.

Moomer’s benefit

TRAVERSE CITY — Moomer’s will host its “Taste of Summer” benefit March 15.

The gourmet sundae bar will be held from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. at Moomer’s, 7263 N. Long Lake Road. Sundaes are $5 for small, $7.50 for large. Proceeds benefit Munson Hospice and its patients. For details, call 935-8486.

‘Your Health’ lecture

TRAVERSE CITY — Michigan State University College of Human Medicine professor and chair of the Department of Pediatrics and Human Development B. Keith English, MD, will discuss issues surrounding “Keeping Children Healthy” March 18.

The lecture is part of MSU’s “Your Health” lecture series. It will start at 9 a.m. at the Dennos Museum Center, 1410 College Dr. Dr. English will discuss ways to prevent the most common childhood ailments and how children can be treated more effectively when they become sick.

Caregiver series

GRAYLING — The Crawford County Commission on Aging will offer a “Creating Confident Caregivers” series.

The series will meet from 1-3 p.m. six Tuesdays starting March 25 at the Grayling City Hall, 1020 City Blvd. Robin Petruska, a certified master trainer through the Otsego County Commission on Aging, is the facilitator. The series will focus on dementia and its effects on the brain, caregiver resources, improving caregiver skills, handling everyday activities more easily and taking care of yourself to better serve your loved one.
