Two charged for making meth at local motel

Two face charges in relation to meth lab

TRAVERSE CITY — Two people face criminal charges stemming from a meth lab discovered at Shadowland Motel.

Traverse City Police officers responded to a suspicious odor complaint at a first-floor room of the motel April 9. The suspects, identified in court documents as Kent Brendon Miller and Jacklyn Louise Vaughn, both 29, apparently fled through a bathroom window.

Police saw what they believed to be components for making meth. A motel staff member told a detective Miller and Vaughn rented the room since Feb. 9, court documents state.

Police executed a search warrant. A Michigan State Police methamphetamine team assisted in a six-hour clean up.

Vaughn, of Jackson, confessed to making meth in the room, according to court documents. She is lodged in Jackson County and is charged in Grand Traverse County with one count of operating a meth lab, records state.

Miller, of Petoskey, had not been arrested as of Friday. He is charged with operating a math lab, maintaining a drug house and as a habitual offender.

A third person was named in court records as a co-defendant, but had not been charged Friday.
