BEULAH — A Benzonia Township man pleaded guilty to a methamphetamine charge.
Authorities in October charged Michael Todd Martin, 45, with felonies after they found an active meth lab in his residence at Hoadley Road and U.S. 31 in Benzie County. On Tuesday, he pleaded guilty in 19th Circuit Court to manufacturing meth in exchange for having possession and maintaining a drug house charges dropped.
Martin faces up to 20 years in prison. Benzie County Prosecutor Sara Swanson said she was pleased with Martin’s plea.
“(Traverse Narcotics Team) put together a very good case,” she said.
Martin’s wife Angela Jane Martin, 32, is still scheduled for a jury trial on identical drug charges. In December, federal authorities arrested the Martins during an investigation into a reported meth lab on tribal land in Benzonia Township. No charges have been filed.
