Prep Sports Roundup: Sabres topple rival Mustangs

TRAVERSE CITY — Kris Crosby had a triple-double and Traverse City Christian held Grand Traverse Academy’s offense in check to register a 62-34 win in its Cherryland Conference opener.

Crosby had 23 points, 13 rebounds and 11 blocks for the Sabres (2-3, 1-0 CL), who travel Monday to Manistee.

Kevin Mannes added 12 points and five steals and Ben Larkin put up seven points and eight boards as Christian committed only nine turnovers.

Jonah Hatch led GT Academy (0-4) with 11 points and Dan Lock contributed eight. The Mustangs host the Traverse City Bulldogs on Thursday.


East Kentwood 70

TC Central 38

Zach Egbert and Jackson Schrameyer had eight points each, but Traverse City Central (2-5) fell to East Kentwood 70-38.

The Central JV lost to East Kentwood 72-30. Devante Walker led the Trojans with 10 points.

In the freshman game Central lost 67-27.

Boyne City 85

TC St. Francis 80

Boyne City scored 11 unanswered points to erase a six-point lead by Traverse City St. Francis in overtime as the Ramblers beat the Gladiators 85-80.

St. Francis scored the first six points of the extra period before Boyne had a run of its own to claim the win.

Boyne forced overtime when Corey Redman buried a deep three-pointer with seven seconds to go.

Byron Bullough led the Gladiators (1-4, 0-3 Lake Michigan) with a career-high 37 points. He also had three assists. Noah Phillips had 22 points, eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

For Boyne City, Ryan Carson had 29 points, Redman 19 and Maceo Vroman 16.

TC St. Francis (2-3) had four players score eight or more points in a 47-44 freshman win over Boyne City.

Brady Buell led the way with nine points, while Sam Ludka, Dominic Hathaway and Matt Brown each had eight.

Elk Rapids 61

Grayling 49

Cole Walker just missed a double-double, but Elk Rapids didn’t miss out on a Lake Michigan Conference win, topping Grayling 61-49.
