EAST JORDAN — Martha Wagbo Farm & Education Center, 5745 N. M-66, will offer a family-friendly “Northwoods Nature Club” event and host a Wassail potluck and winter celebration.

The nature club event starts at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12. Participants will make rustic snowshoes from pine boughs and test them in the deep snow. All ages are welcome.

The Wassail potluck and winter celebration starts at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18. At 7 p.m., participants will process to the orchard, where toasts will be made in hopes of a bountiful harvest and torches will be lit. A sledding party will follow. Attendees should bring sleds.

Torch area potluck

EASTPORT — Torch Lake area residents are invited to the Upper Torch Lake Association’s monthly potluck on Monday, Jan. 13.

A social hour at 6 p.m. will be followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the Torch Lake Township Community Services Building on U.S. 31. Attendees should bring a dish to share and a list of its ingredients, a favorite beverage, and table service

Pianist performs

INTERLOCHEN — American pianist Jonathan Biss will give a concert at Interlochen Center for the Arts just days before he takes the stage at Carnegie Hall.

Euchre tourney

TRAVERSE CITY — A euchre tournament on Friday, Jan. 17, will benefit the Bay Pointe spring 2014 Haiti team.
