Health Clinic

TRAVERSE CITY — The inaugural Resolution Run 5K at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, will benefit the Traverse Health Clinic.

The event starts and ends at Little Fleet, 448 E. Front St., and follows a course through downtown Traverse City. Online registration is $35 and closes at 6 p.m. today, Dec. 28, at Packet pick-up is from 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at Cartridge World on South Airport Road. Race day registration (cash or checks only) is from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Little Fleet.

Men’s breakfast

TRAVERSE CITY — Bay Pointe Community Church will host a Men’s Quarterly Breakfast on Saturday, Jan. 4.

RNs meet

TRAVERSE CITY — Michelle Witkop, DNP, FNP-BC, from the Northern Michigan Bleeding Disorders Center, will give a program titled “One RN’s Educational Journey & the Impact of the DNP on Her Career” at the next meeting of the American Nurses Association in Michigan (ANA-MI), formerly the RN-AIM.

The meeting will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, in rooms A & B at Munson Community Health Center, 550 Munson Ave., with REMEC connections to Grayling Hospital and Kirtland Community College. The meeting is free, with a $5 donation requested for pizza and salad. All nurses and students nurses are welcome.

Security classes

TRAVERSE CITY — The Department of Homeland Security will offer two free class on agroterrorism, food system preparedness and implementing a recovery plan, for rural first responders and community stakeholders.

“Principles of Preparedness for Agroterrorism and Food System Disasters” will meet from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Grand Traverse County Health Department/EOC, 2600 LaFranier Road. Topics include identifying targets, developing prevention, protection and mitigation strategies, building multidisciplinary response teams and identifying the roles of the government agencies throughout the incident. The registration deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 15.
