Lenten services

TRAVERSE CITY — Old Mission Peninsula United Methodist Church will conduct a short Lenten service each Wednesday starting Ash Wednesday, March 5, and continuing through April 16.

Services start at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a soup and bread supper at 6:30 p.m. at the church, 16426 Center Road. Call 223-4393 to learn more.

Lenten series

TRAVERSE CITY — The Rev. Bill Myers of The Presbyterian Church will reflect on the theme “God’s Sacrificial Gift of Love” at the first in a series of Lenten luncheons sponsored by Church Women and Men United.

A sandwich and dessert lunch at 11:30 a.m. March 6, will be followed by music at noon and the Lenten message at 12:30 p.m. at The Presbyterian Church, 701 Westminster. A $3 donation is requested to benefit local missions.The series continues on Thursdays through April 10.

Bay Pointe concert

TRAVERSE CITY — Singer/songwriter Andy Gullahorn and Contemporary Christian singer/songwriter Jill Phillips Gullahorn will give a concert on March 7, at Bay Pointe Community Church, 6880 Secor Road.

The husband and wife duo will perform from 7-8:30 p.m. The doors open at 6:45 p.m.

‘Dance Battle’ set

TRAVERSE CITY — DJ DomiNate will spin the tunes for a dance showdown to benefit the American Cancer Society.

“Dance Battle 4 The Cure” will start at 6 p.m. March 8, in Lars Hockstad Auditorium at Central Grade School, 301 W. Seventh St.

The doors open at 5 p.m. Northern Michigan dance crews will compete for the top spot and also perform freestyle.

The event is in memory of Karen Annis.

Admission is $5 at the door. For an additional $10, individuals can have their loved one’s picture and name displayed throughout the show. Pizza, soft drinks and snacks will be available to purchase.
