XYZ group meets

TRAVERSE CITY — The XYZ (Extra Years of Zest) group for adults 50 and older will host a potluck lunch and program on Friday, Feb. 21.

The meal will start at noon at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1050 Peninsula Dr. Everyone is welcome and attendees should bring a dish to pass. Derek Morton, a Deputy Sheriff for Grand Traverse County, will be the guest speaker.

FRANKFORT — Information sessions outlining the Health Insurance Marketplace will be offered in Frankfort and Empire.

Trained Navigator Jennifer Hansen of District Health Department #10 will discuss the various ways to apply, features of the www.healthcare.gov website, information needed for enrollment, levels of plans, individual mandate, exemptions to the mandate and more. The program will be offered at 6 p.m., Feb. 24, at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital in Frankfort; and at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital Lab building, 9973 Ottawa Ave., Empire.

The programs are free and open to the public. Registration is required; call 352-2214.

Nursing program info

PETOSKEY — North Central Michigan College’s nursing and allied health faculty will hold a meeting on Feb. 20 to explain the process for admission to the college’s nursing and allied health programs.

The session starts at 4 p.m. in room 347 of the college’s Health Education and Science Center on the Petoskey campus, 1515 Howard St. Anyone planning to apply for the nursing or allied health program is encouraged to attend this or one of the upcoming sessions. Information on prerequisites will be important for those applying for the fall 2014 program. Future programs will be held March 20 and April 24.

Advising on nursing

TRAVERSE CITY — Grand Valley State University will offer advising for RN-BSN or MSN interested students.

Advising on the university’s hybrid program will be available from 1-7 p.m. Feb. 20, by appointment at the NMC University Center off Cass Road. For details or an appointment, call 995-1785 or email nminfo@gvsu.edu.
