Orthodox Easter

TRAVERSE CITY — Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church, 1030 Hastings St., will celebrate Pasha (Easter) on Sunday, May 5.

Pancake breakfast

MAPLE CITY — The Cedar/Maple City Lions will sponsor a pancake breakfast on Sunday, May 5.

The meal will be served from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lions Community Building on County Road 616, downtown Maple City. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for ages 5 to 12, and free for children 4 and younger.

Pancake supper

TRAVERSE CITY — Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1050 Peninsula Dr., will hold a pancake supper and breakfast for Lutheran Social Services of Michigan for a summer camp for foster children and a chapel being built at Hope Village.

The meal will be served at 6 p.m. today, May 4, and at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, May 5. There also will be a silent auction. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will match 50 cents on each dollar raised up to $1,600.

Star Wars Day

TRAVERSE CITY — Brilliant Books, 118 E. Front St., will host “May the 4th Be With You” Star Wars Day today, May 4.

A full day of contests, activities, crafts, a local cartoonist, and Star Wars and Star Wars Lego books are planned, with cartoonist Jeff Manley starting at noon and a Jedi-Level Trivia Contest at 6 p.m. There also will be a costume contest. For details, visit or call 946-2665.

Benefit concert

TRAVERSE CITY — Trinity Lutheran Church will host a benefit concert featuring the Sweet Adelines.

The concert will start at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at the church, 1003 S. Maple St. Admission is $10 per person or $25 per family. Proceeds benefit the church food pantry. For details, call 645-2544.

Plow Day

BENZONIA — The Northwest Michigan Draft Horse and Mule Association will host their 21st Annual Plow Day event on Sunday, May 5.
