No consequences yet

Concerning the recent news about more revenue for schools, we went through this several years ago.

We're probably still paying off millage for the demise of our schools. It's obvious some groups and organizations of people haven't felt the consequences of the last financial downturn or they sure wouldn't be putting their hands out for more funding.

I guess like big and small government, as long as someone else is paying, it doesn't hurt me so bad.

Get real.

Fix and repair what you have then go for the gusto at a later date when economic times are somewhat better.

On the 'dirty dozen' list

The National League of Conservation Voters ranks legislators on their record of protecting the environment.

The results?

"Ray Franz (Onekama) represents one of the most beautiful stretches of Great Lakes shoreline and sand dunes in northern Michigan, but he has consistently voted to weaken the laws which protect the Great Lakes and the beaches, sand dunes, and forests at the heart of his district's tourist economy."

He is now on their national "dirty dozen" list.

It is remarkable that such an anti-environment individual was elected. We deserve much better.

More hidden loopholes?

According to economic experts from such tarnished organizations as Barclays, HSBC and City-Group, the recent unemployment figure dropping to 7.8 percent in September is a falsehood created by the Democrats and President Obama.

These proven perpetrators of unethical financial mismanagement (http://www.propublica.org/special/a-scorecard-for-this-summers-bank-scandals) are essentially accusing the president of lying or embellishing the record, a charge former GE (Pay-no-taxes) CEO Jack Welch reiterated (http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/ge-filed-57000-page-tax-return-paid-no-taxes-14-billion-profits_609137.html).

President Obama, despite his lackluster debate performance, continues to hold that electing Mitt Romney will plunge us back to where President Bush left off.

Makes you wonder what "loopholes" Mitt (just like his taxes) is refusing to reveal.
