Promise Pledge Picnic set for today

NORTHPORT -- Organizers of the Northport Promise Pledge Picnic hope for a good turnout.

The picnic will be held from noon until 3 p.m. today at Marina Park in Northport. All money raised will be used by Northport Promise to provide college scholarships for students who have spent at least their last four years of school in Northport.

Music, children's activities and a silent auction will be held. Promise committee member Ruth Steele Walker said the auction will include charter fishing trips, spa packages and other items and services. People can even bid on a ride in a DeLorean.

"We've got some pretty neat stuff," Steele Walker said.
