TRAVERSE CITY -- Mancelona is still perfect.
The Ironmen moved to 20-0 on the season with a 9-4, 7-0 non-conference sweep at Traverse City Central.
In the opener, Greg Blanco pitched the win for Mancelona with six strikeouts.
The Trojans (17-9) scored the first earned runs on Blanco this season in the fourth inning when Erik Krueger and Brandon Harrison scored on RBIs from Travis Myers and Collin Casey. Central also had two hits from Alex Fancy while Ryan Truschke pitched the loss with two earned runs and three strikeouts.
Mancelona had three hits, two runs and an RBI from Kodi Balhorn while Dan Johnson had two hits.
In the nightcap, the Ironmen had two hits from Blanco, Balhorn and Johnson. Nick Lockman earned the win by throwing a two-hitter with seven strikeouts.

Ray Platts drove in four runs to back the no-hit pitching of Adam Peplinski as Lake Leelanau St. Mary beat Glen Lake 12-2 in the opener of a doubleheader.
Peplinski struck out six. Platts had two hits for the Eagles (18-1-1). Jacob Plamondon and Michael Pendergast each contributed a hit and two RBIs.
Platts earned the win in the nightcap, a 5-2 Eagles' win. He pitched three innings of relief, striking out six. Plamondon's two-run double snapped a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the fifth. Pendergast added a triple and an RBI.

Mesick swept a doubleheader from Brethren, giving up just three hits in the process.
Kyle Runyon tossed a two-hitter in the five-inning 14-1 opener, while Mike Flauger surrendered only one base hit as the Bobcats forfeited after two innings. Runyon fanned six hitters and Flauger four.
In the opener, Eric Pechota had a 4-for-4 game with four RBIs, Jeff Harnish was 2-for-2 with two walks, a double, a triple and four RBIs and Mark Fortelka drove in two runs with a double and a triple.
Fortelka and Pechota were each 2-for-2 in the nightcap, with Pechota driving in three runs and Fortelka doubling twice. Brandon Monroe hit a two-run double.
Mesick (17-3-4, 6-2-4 Northwest) travels to Benzie Central on Tuesday.

Boyne Falls 4 8
Nick Birgy threw a complete game and was 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Forest Area to an opening-game win in a split with Boyne Falls.
Birgy drove in five runs and stole three bases in the 15-4 opener. John Rickets was 3-for-3.
Jared Mathers was the winning pitcher as the Loggers claimed the nightcap 8-2.
Forest Area (4-12) hosts Inland Lakes today.

Mieke Scaggs spun a four-hitter as Mancelona beat Traverse City Central 12-2 in the opener of a doubleheader.
Lisa Luton and Andrea Allen had two hits apiece to spark Mancelona (13-7). Sam Watkins drove in three runs and Allen two. Maggie Shanahan scored twice. Lauren Rockafellow and Mariah Sika had a hit and scored a run for the Trojans (6-20).
Central won the nightcap 10-7. The Trojans pounded out 12 hits, two apiece by Jen Pamonte, Nikki Schaub, Baige Bell and Rockafellow. Schaub scored two runs. Grace Duensing was the winning pitcher.
Shantelle Adams and Allen had two hits for Mancelona. Adams and Luton drove in two runs.
Central hosts Marquette on Friday.

Mesick moved to 18-4 with a non-conference sweep of Brethren.
Courtney Clough pitched both wins for the Bulldogs with 10 strikeouts on the night.
In the 10-0 opener, Ashley Wheeler had three hits while Raine Dinsmore and Nicole Hindman added two hits.
Erin Hamilton and Erica Hamilton each had three hits in a 16-1 win in the second game.

Kaley Pleva pitched Glen Lake to a 10-2 and 11-1 sweep of Lake Leelanau St. Mary's.
Pleva tossed a two-hitter in the opener. Hanna Therrien, Kristen Pleva and Mariah Sobczak all had two hits for the Lakers (14-12-1). Sobczak drove in two runs.
Pleva pitched a four-hitter in the nightcap. Kristen Pleva, Lauren O'Brien, Therrien, Devon Kelly and Paige Picard led the Lakers with two hits. Kristen Pleva and Kelly scored three runs. Katie Drzewiecki drove in two.
Glen Lake hosts a tournament Saturday.

Suttons Bay locks up another NWC title
Barring a major upset in Monday's league meet, Suttons Bay will be Northwest Conference champions once again.
The Norse won the final league jamboree Wednesday at Champion Hills with a 155. That gives them first place in the jamborees and the pre-season tournament heading into Monday's meet at Mistwood, which counts for 25 percent of the overall standings.
Glen Lake was second with 162, followed by Benzie Central (185), Kingsley (190), Mesick (192) and Frankfort (214).
Charlie Olson was medalist and paced Suttons Bay with a 34. Chase Palmer and Adam Wodek each shot 40 while Conor Loberg had 41.
The Lakers had 36 from Matt O'Brien, 41 from Matt Abramson and Steve King while Paul Watkowski shot 44.
The Huskies had a 44 from Hunter Brian, 46 from Samuel Hahn, 48 from Sean Mackey and a 49 from Troy Bailey.
Tom Regenold and Josh Lueck shot 46 for the Stags, Zach Ackerman had 47 and Andrew Tallman and Dillon Bach each had 51.
Mesick had a 46 from Tony Peltier and Richard Gardner while Kenny Bacchus shot 49, Alex Spencer and Alex Flintoff had 51.
Jared Ikens and Jake Kramer each shot 49 for the Panthers.

Matthew Benson scored two tries and two conversions as TC Alliance beat Forest Hills 39-5 to finish the regular season 5-3.
Anthony Armour, Jared Preston, Jack Gallagher, Ben Yancho and Gabe Gallagher all had one try.
The Alliance open the playoffs Saturday at Holland West Ottawa.
