TRAVERSE CITY -- The Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings arrived in Traverse City today.
Players will report to Centre ICE on Friday for physicals and conditioning drills. A team meeting is scheduled afterwards. Players, coaches and front office personnel will take part in a golf outing at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa in the afternoon.
Training camp begins Saturday morning at 9:15. Camp will last four days, concluding with a Red-White game Tuesday evening.
The NHL Prospects Tournament finished Wednesday night at Centre ICE with Dallas beating Atlanta 8-3 in the gold medal game. Minnesota edged Detroit 3-2 in a shootout for the bronze medal. The Wings ended 2-2. Both losses were in shootouts.
The tournament attracted an opening night record crowd of 1,400 on Saturday. Crowds were in excess of 1,000 fans the remaining three days, according to Centre ICE officials.
