Prep Sports Roundup: Christian bowlers victorious

— TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Christian beat Traverse City West Green 20-10 on Saturday to stay unbeaten at 10-0 in the Great Northwest Bowling Conference.

It was the first loss for the West Green team.

The Titans jumped out early to take a 6-4 lead after the Baker games. Jon Tuck’s 211 and Paul Bump’s 194 game would lead Christian in the first regular game and a 11-8 edge heading into the final regular game. Jared Argle then rolled a 204 and Tuck a 200 to push the Sabres to the win. Ben Mohrhardt had a 207 game for the Titans.

Elk Rapids Orange (7-3) beat St. Francis (5-5) 24-6. Kirk May rolled a 202 game in the win for the Elks.

Traverse City Central Black (8-2) beat Elk Rapids Black (4.5 -5.5) 30-0. Trojan Mitchell Mosley had a 191 game in the win.

Glen Lake notched its second win by upsetting Bellaire (7-3) 21-9. Kingsley (5-5) beat Traverse City Christian Gold (3-7) 22-8. Traverse City Prep (4-5) beat The Trojan Gold (2-8) 28-2. Traverse City West White (4.5–4.5) moved past Benzie (2-8) 16- 14.

Two Central wrestlers take 5th

Traverse City Central’s Hunter Luhrs and Justice Korson earned fifth-place finishes at the eight-team Portage Invitational.

Luhrs, a transfer, wrestled at 125, Korson at 140. Korson won a 14-6 decision to earn his fifth.

The tournament brought together two brothers on the coaching sidelines — Traverse City Central’s Dave Haughn and Portage Central’s Ken Haughn. Traverse City wrestlers stayed with their Portage Central counterparts Friday night.
