Prep Sports Roundup: Glen Lake wins match over Grayling

LAKE ANN — Glen Lake won a nine-hole, dual-meet golf match 185-197 Wednesday over Grayling at Mistwood.

The Lakers were led by 44s from Nichole Cox and Melanie Kulanda, while Skyler Gleason shot 46, Madison Hill 51 and Brianna Flores 55.

The Vikings had medalist Whitney Schanz’ 43, joined by Natalie Woolley’s 45, Logna Miller (53), Laura Strach (56) and Sally Metiva (56).

Grayling won a junior varsity match with Traverse City St. Francis 265-281. The Vikings were led by Chynna Clark’s 63 and St. Francis’ top score came from Bridget Glasa (58).

Glen Lake, Grayling and St. Francis all play in Friday’s Traverse City Invitational at the Traverse City Country Club.

VOLLEYBALL

TC West 3

Alpena 0

Traverse City West swept a road match against Alpena to improve to 4-0 in Big North Conference play.

The Titans won 25-9, 25-12, 25-19.

Leading the way for West were Kait ePlacek (12 kills, 19 digs, 3.5 blocks), Anna O’Hara (10 kills, 19 digs, 2.5 blocks), Ally Peters (10 digs), Kimmy Bilinski (five kills, six digs, two blocks), Olivia Bishop (four blocks) and Matti Mokanyk (28 assists).

The Titans (13-6, 4-0 BNC) travel to Saturday Cedar Springs Invitational before hosting Petoskey in league play Monday.

In the JV match, West won 25-20, 25-15, 25-10, led by Emily Nunemaker (eight kills), Lexi Peters (seven kills), Victoria Green (20 digs) and Emma VanderMeulen (18 assists) to improve to 4-0 in BNC action.

Boyne City 3

Harbor Springs 0

Boyne City swept Harbor Springs 25-12, 25-21, 25-17 to remain undefeated in the Lake Michigan Conference.

The Ramblers improve to 24-9-2 overall.

Leading Boyne were Heather Nichols (26 assists, six aces), Kylie Hicks (13 kills), Paige Hornbeck (six kills), Erin Baker (18 digs) and Mallory Karaszewki (17 digs). Baker and Karaszewki were both perfect from behind the serving line.

For Harbor Springs (2-11), Sydney Elkins (four kills, 15 digs), Brooke Paige (four assists, three aces) and Stephaine Sylvain (three kills, two aces) led the way.

Boyne hosts Sault Ste. Marie and Central for a tri match today.
