Prep Sports Roundup: Leland shuts out Suttons Bay

LELAND — After a scoreless battle in the first half, Leland shut out Suttons Bay 5-0 Thursday in a Northwest Conference soccer match as Henrik Ohr scored four goals.

Ohr scored the game’s first four goals, with assists going to Noah Fetterolf, Mike Osorio and Cam Stowe (two). Cole Prevost scored with five minutes left, as Stowe picked up his third assist of the night.

Mike Farese stopped all four shots on goal he saw as the Lakers (8-2, 3-0 Northwest Conference) held a 13-4 advantage in shots. Defensive standouts were Austin Fellows, Jamie Brubaker and Clarke Morgan.

Suttons Bay, which plays in the Traverse City Christian tournament Saturday, falls to 3-3-1 overall, 2-1 NWC.

Forest Area 1

Doug Verellen scored two goals to lead Bellaire to a 5-1 win over Forest Area.

Verellen’s goals came 1:26 apart, making it 2-0 in the first half. Nic Underwood scored off a MacKenzie Ciganick assist for a 3-0 halftime lead.

Forest Area’s Jeremy Richards struck off a Tyler Leffew assist 2:52 into the second half before Colin May and Hannes Winter added Bellaire goals for the final 5-1 margin. Spencer May added an assist. The Warriors were coming off a win over Kalkaska.

Adam Crandall had 10 saves for the Eagles (9-1, 5-0), who travel to Glen Lake today.

Harbor Light 4

Burt Lake NMCA 2

Harbor Light Christian topped Burt Lake Northern Michigan Christian Academy 4-2.

Josiah Fosmore and Ben Vinz each had goals for the Eagles, while Jimmy Martin made 16 saves.

Glen Lake 3

Buckley 0

Glen Lake improved to 4-3 with a 3-0 win over Buckley.

Riley Scanlon, Glen Bredin and Devin Montague tallied for the Lakers. Bredin scored on a penalty kick. Keith Brown had the shutout in goal.

Glen Lake hosts Bellaire today. Tyler Welch made seven saves in net for the Bears (3-2), who host Kingsley on Saturday.

Benzie Central 1

Northport 0

Dustin Tandy’s goal was the only score of the night as Benzie Central edged Northport 1-0.
