Prep Sports Roundup: Blazers rally for Dalton's 300th win

BOYNE CITY — It did not come easy, but coach Dave Dalton registered career win No. 300 Friday night as Kalkaska fought back from an 18-point first-half deficit to beat Boyne City 51-42 in Lake Michigan Conference play.

"I've never been down 18 (in first half) and come back to win before," said Dalton, now in his 18th season.

Kelli Guy fueled the comeback, scoring 24 of her game-high 31 points in the second half. She hit 11 of 14 shots from the field in the final 16 minutes. She also finished with seven steals, six rebounds and four assists.

Halee Boughton's 11 points led Boyne City.

Petoskey      41 Cadillac      40

Petoskey pulled into a virtual three-way tie atop the Big North Conference with a 41-40 league win over Cadillac on Kelsey Ance's buzzer-beating layup.

Ance ended up with nine points and 11 rebounds, and Megan Tompkins had nine points and 10 boards.

Abby Fuller led Cadillac (5-1 BNC) with 14 points.

Kingsley     49 Frankfort     28

Autumn Goggin led a balanced attack with 17 points as Kingsley remained unbeaten in the Northwest Conference with a 49-28 win over Frankfort.

Andrea Lee chipped in 14 points, five rebounds and Katie Travis 10 points for Kingsley (11-2, 7-0).

McKenna Kelly paced Frankfort with seven points.

Glen Lake      46 Benzie Central      31

Scotlyn Brengman's 3-pointer at the first-half buzzer gave Glen Lake its first lead — and the Lakers never looked back.

Glen Lake went on to a 46-31 Northwest Conference victory over Benzie Central, coming back from a 10-4 first-quarter deficit to lead 20-19 at intermission and surged into a 32-23 lead by the end of the third stanza.

Brengman filled up the stat sheet with 16 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, three blocks and four steals.

Katie Stowe added 15 points and four boards and Jordan Peplinski came off the bench to chip in six points and four rebounds.

Mariah Hanson scored 12 and Jordan Nye 10 to lead Benzie.
