TRAVERSE CITY — Saginaw Heritage entered Saturday's championship game at the Scott Miller Memorial Holiday Invitational Tournament with a perfect record.
They left with their first loss.
TC Central topped the Hawks 6-3 at Centre ICE for their first title at the holiday tournament in several years.
"They're a real nice team," Central coach Chris Givens said. "They're really fast. This was a good win for us.
The Trojans (9-1) led 3-2 going into the third period, but goals from Cooper Marshall, Mitchell Ward and Nico Saco put it away.
"This was good, because we had to play a little different style," Givens said. "They're really quick and work hard. So it was really physical. We had to establish the forecheck and I thought we did a good job of that. Defensively we were better than we had been this week, and (Bill) Vermetten had a good game in goal."
Vermetten turned back 18 saves to get the win over Heritage (8-1).
Buddy Rose, Jon Russel and Alex Oliver also had a goal for TC Central. Cooper Macdonell had two assists while Saco, Russell, Oliver, Cam Givens, Kyle Ludwig, Rhys Adle and Joe Videki each had one.

In the seventh-place game earlier in the day, the Bay Reps topped TC West 3-2.

TC West beat the Reps 4-2 earlier in the season.
The Reps (3-7) took a 2-0 lead in the second period on an unassisted goal from Nick Sicinski and a Travis Kirk goal from Mark Mol and Trevor Apsey.
TC West came back to tie the game 2-2 later in the second period, but Josh Hill scored the game-winner for the Reps with just seven seconds left before the second intermission.
Jay Jones made 10 saves in the win.
Keeler Steele had a goal and an assist for the Titans while Ryan Basel had a goal and Nick Featherstone had two assists. Brandan Lacharite made 16 saves.
