Prep Sports Roundup: Frankfort's Zimmerman wins 400th game

TRAVERSE CITY — Frankfort baseball head coach Mike Zimmerman won his 400th game as Frankfort swept a doubleheader from TC Christian on Monday, 6-4 and 5-3.

Ken Frieswyk scattered six hits to get the win in the opener, while Sam Stockdale fanned 10 and allowed three hits to lead the Panthers (20-5) to the victory in game two.

Frieswyk went 2-for-3 in game one, while Kyle Kidder and Brennan Flynn each doubled. Kole Hollenbeck had a double among two hits in game two. R.J. Kennis also had two hits in that game.

Leading Christian offensively in game one was Cam Beemer with two hits and four stolen bases. Jonathan Wilhelm added an RBI and a single, and Josh Lugiewicz had an RBI double. In game two Jacob Rorick, Will Andre and Wilhelm had the hits for the Sabres (8-11-1)

Frankfort travels to Kingsley today and Christian hosts Onekama.

Gaylord St. Mary	8	0

Kyle Schepperly threw a one-hit shutout as Mancelona defeated Gaylord St. Mary 10-0 in a five-inning nightcap of a baseball doubleheader. St. Mary posted an 8-5 victory in the opener.

Schepperly struck out seven in the victory. Nick Balhorn went 2-for-2 with a double and scored a run.

Jonathan Lochinski went 2-for-2 with two runs scored in the opener for St. Mary. Brendan Nowicki took the loss, allowing nine hits. J.R. Cook had two hits for the Ironmen (13-5, 10-2 Ski Valley Conference), who play Bellaire and Forest Area on Wednesday in games that are being completed from earlier this season. The split drops Mancelona into a first-place SVC tie with Onaway.

The Snowbirds (12-8, 9-7 SVC) were led in the opener by three hits from Anthony Zielinski and two each by Matt Spyhalski and Jack Lochinski. Nick Harrington hit a triple and made a diving catch with the bases loaded in the sixth to end the game. Brendan Nowicki was the winning pitcher for St. Mary, which plays Wednesday at East Jordan.
