TRAVERSE CITY — Zack Bargy knocked in a rebound with six seconds left on Saturday to give the Bay Reps a 3-2 victory over Traverse City West.
With the teams skating 4-on-4, the Reps had a two-on-none rush, joined by a third skater coming out of the penalty box. They were able to get three shots on West goalie Tyler Buchanan. He saves the first two, but Bargy’s third attempt found the net for the game-winning goal.
“After the first period, we played pretty well,” Reps coach Todd Spaulding said. “They had a good couple days of practice before this.”
Andrew Dzierwa and Travis Kirk drew assists on Bargy’s winning goal.
West went up 1-0 on a first-period Jake Saxton goal set up by Jacob Benker.
Each team put up a goal in the second, with Kirk scoring for the Reps off a set up by Dzierwa and Chase Joppich and Ryan Fernandez for West, assisted by Saxton and Benker.
Luke Stapleton scored an unassisted power-play goal in the third to knot it up.
Jay Jones made 23 saves in the victory. Buchanan had 26.
The Reps (5-13) travel Wednesday to Manistee before playing Gaylord in Kalkaska on Friday and hosting Traverse City Central on Saturday at Centre ICE.
West (8-10) plays TC Central on Wednesday and then travels Friday to Alpena.

Parker Hebden scored two goals to help Traverse City Central to a 3-1 Big North Conference victory over Alpena.
Alex Oliver also scored for the Trojans (10-6-1, 5-1-1 BNC).
Derek Schrank had two assists and John Peters and Cam Givens one each. Darrell Carlisle had to make only six saves as Central outshot the Wildcats by a whopping 64-7 margin.
The Trojans play TC West in Wednesday’s Jeff McCullough Cup game at Howe Arena before playing the Bay Reps at Centre ICE in Saturday’s Veteran’s Cup contest.
Gaylord won the Northern Michigan Wrestling Championships, with five grapplers earning individual titles.
The Blue Devils had individual champions with Dominic LaJoie, Trent Lashuay, Jon Martin, Tristan Gregory and Shane Foster.
Forest Area’s Matt Elliott won all three of his matches at 125 pounds by pin to win his weight class. The Warriors had two other placers in Tyler Leffingwell (second at 130) and Landon Elliott (fourth at 119).
Frankfort notched a 63-25 Northwest Conference victory over visiting Buckley.
With the win, the Panthers finish the first half of the NWC season undefeated at 7-0 in league play and 12-0 overall.
Mackenna Kelly scored 14 points and Hannah Nostrandt 13 for Frakfort, which travels Tuesday to Benzie Central.
Marlee Harris led the Bears with 13 points. Buckley hosts Glen Lake on Thursday.
