Honor Roll scratch meeting Thursday

TRAVERSE CITY — The Record-Eagle Honor Roll scratch meeting will be held Thursday at 5 p.m. at Traverse City Central in the conference room next to the athletic office.

A coach must be present to determine the finals for this meet. Coaches can register athletes on athletic.net.

Important reminder: Take all FAT times and round up to the nearest tenth, then deduct/subtract .4 then place a small “c” next to the time (this stands for converted). In summary, coaches will need to override FAT times in order to make an accurate entry to put all athletes on an even par.

The Honor Roll meet starts at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

This week’s boys and girls Honor Roll listings will be published Thursday.

Cherry-Roubaix to double as state meet

TRAVERSE CITY — The 6th Annual Cherry-Roubaix bicycle race will double as a state championship criterium race for masters, women and junior racers.

It will be the first time a state championship cycling race has been held in downtown Traverse City. The Cherry-Roubaix is scheduled for June 14-16.

In the last two years, Cherry-Roubaix hosted the Michigan State Championship Road Race in Cedar.

“A criterium, or crit, is a bike race held on a short course (usually less than one mile), often run on closed-off city center streets,” said race director Bob McLain. “Crits are fast and fun to watch as the racing will loop past spectators multiple times.”

The criterium will start and finish in Old Town.

The three-day event kicks off Friday, June 14, with a time trial race on Old Mission Peninsula. Saturday’s schedule includes a charity ride on Old Mission Peninsula with multiple distances tailored to riders of all ability levels. The ride benefits Munson Women’s Cancer Fund. To date, it’s raised more than $15,000 for local families in need.
