Amber Brautigam celebrated her 18th birthday Thursday with a five-hit night as Traverse City West swept Gaylord 12-9 and 7-4 in a Big North Conference softball doubleheader.
Brautigam had two triples and three RBIs.
Kerri McAdams and Molly Longton combined to strike out five in the opener, and Longton fanned three in the nightcap.
Laura Krieber added three hits, a triple, two RBIs and solid defense at second base, while Abby Howard had four hits and three RBIs, Carley Drzewiecki chipped in three hits, a double and three RBIs, Angelika Diehl added three hits, a double and two RBIs and Anna O’Hara drove in two runs with two hits.
In the JV contests, West won 18-3 and 15-5.
Jodi Turnquist was 2 for 3 with a triple and four RBIs in the opener, while McKenzie Ankerson drove in four runs in the nightcap. Mykaylah Gauld and Turnquist had doubles. Emma VanderMeulen was the winning pitcher in both games and also drive in four runs.

Suttons Bay 1 9
Val Peters doubled, then scored moments later on Lindsey Schroeder’s infield groundout as East Jordan’s softball team salvaged a 1-1 tie against Suttons Bay in the first game of a doubleheader. The Red Devils bounced back with an 18-9 win in the second game.
Jane Hursey struck out 10 in the opener for Suttons Bay. Offensively, Caylee Patterson had an RBI single, and Beedoskal Stonefish and Veronica Anderson added singles.
In the second game East Jordan was paced by Lindsey Graham, Maddie Cesaro and McKenna Steltzner had two hits each. Stonefish, Anderson and Marla Reynolds each had two hits for the Norsemen.
TC Christian 17 14
Bear Lake 13 12
TC Christian and Bear Lake combined to plate 56 runs in a softball doubleheader, with Bear Lake taking game one 17-13 and Christian (5-10) bouncing back to win 13-12.
Katie Millard got the win in the first game, striking out three. Katelyn Pruyne was 4-for-4, Breanne Bowling went 3-for-5 and Jill Johnson 2-for-3 for Bear Lake.
