GAYLORD — Cam Murray shot a school record 67 Tuesday to lead Traverse City West to a win in a Big North Conference golf meet on The Tribute course here.
The Titans finished with a 306. That was two strokes behind Tawas, but tops among Big North schools. Traverse City Central came in second to West in the BNC at 310.
Murray was 2-over through five holes, but finished 7-under over the next 13.
“He had a fantastic round,” West coach Mike Schultz said. “He capped it with birdies on his last three holes. It was really impressive.”
Murray prevailed by four strokes. It was his second tournament win this spring. West’s school record had been 68.
Payden Myers shot 77, Steven Gaston 79 and Alex Scott 83 for the Titans.
For Central, Riley Boyd fired a 76, Derek Schrank 77, Trey Pezzetti 78 and Winton Munch 79.
West won the JV tournament at The Classic with a 340. Zach Perrin tied Central’s Bauer Jones for medalist honors with a 79. Matt Orwig added an 86, Seth Perrin 87 and Austin Rodes 88 for West. Central finished sixth with a 386.

Matt Seybert threw a two-hit shutout in game one and Tyler Waslawski followed with a three-hitter in the second game as St. Francis swept a baseball doubleheader from visiting Boyne City.
Joe Studzinski had two hits in the nightcap for the Gladiators (6-2, 6-1 Lake Michigan Conference).

Charlevoix used two big innings to sweep a Lake Michigan Conference twinbill from Elk Rapids.
The Rayders plated five runs in the sixth to win the opener 6-2. They scored five in the fifth to take the nightcap 5-2.
J.J. Bottomley went 3-for-3 with two RBIs to back the pitching of Shane Sutherland in the opener. Luke Klinger’s two-run, two-out single highlighted the five-run fifth in the nightcap. Tommy Zipp struck out 10 for the Rayders (13-1, 8-0).
