Grand Traverse Academy's girls cross country team edged Auburn Hills Oakland Christian, while the boys team won a little more decisively as both finished first out of 15 teams in their division at the Holly Invitational.
GTA scored 55 points to place first, just three ahead of the Lancers. The GTA boys scored 90 points to hold a 12-point win over second-place Deckerville.
TCSF girls win B/C race at Ellsworth Invitational
Led by Holly Bullough's second-place finish, the TC St. Francis girls cross country team won the B/C division of the Ellsworth Invitational.
Bullough finished in a time of 18:39, followed by Blair Dzierwa in 6th (22:02), Emily Gallagher in 7th (22:05); Grace Jones in 17th (23:21); Suzanne Britten in 20th (23:31), Gabby Fournier in 21st (23:37); and Aly Dzierwa in 41st (25:17).
St. Francis had 52 points to top Harbor Springs (55) and Charlevoix (99) at the 10-team meet.
Out of the boys runners, St. Francis' Matthew Mawby was 20th with a 19:20, Andy Fitzpatrick was 26th with a 19:56 and Nick Meddaugh 27th (20:00).
Ewen-Trout Creek 8
After falling behind early Bellaire responded with 52 unanswered points in rolling past Ewen-Trout Creek 52-8 in a game played at Engadine.
The Eagles (3-0) rushed for 260 yards, led by Hunter Walsh's 162 yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns. Rick Foster added 82 yards on eight carries and scored twice and Bailey Proctor had 17 yards rushing on four carries and two touchdowns.
Walsh's touchdowns were from 1 and 26 yards, Foster's were from 3 and 56 yards, and Proctor scored from 1 yard out and 7 yards. Bellaire's final touchdown came on a 49-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown by Hayden Niepoch, one of two fumble recoveries he had on the day.
Walsh had two PAT runs, Calvin Herring ran in one, while Proctor passed for two PATs, one to Riley Ramsey and one to Niepoch.
