Prep Sports Roundup: TC Central mercies Ogemaw Heights

TRAVERSE CITY — Jalyna Cisneros scored three goals as Traverse City Central defeated Ogemaw Heights 9-0 in a Big North Conference soccer match called after the first half because of the mercy rule.

Grace Stanton, Elena Morcote, Kalina Pfannenstiel, Sophie Lutz, Lily Stackable and Makenzie Mattis also tallied for the Trojans (3-0, 2-0). Stanton, Jacqueline Hardy and Kendall Minor added two assists apiece.

Katie Wheeler and Katie Ludwig shared goaltending duties for Central, which outshot the Falcons 10-2.

Central will play games against Forest Hills Northern, Rockford and Muskegon Mona Shores on Saturday.


Leland varsity 5

TC Central JV 2

Lydia Gulow and Libby Munoz scored two goals each to lead Leland’s varsity to a 5-2 victory over Traverse City Central’s junior varsity.

Heather Burns added a goal, while Gulow and Whitney Schaub each had assists.

Andrea Hunt had 11 saves for the Comets (1-0), while Central’s Carrie Wynkoop had five.

Jen Rose and Julianna Chang scored the Trojans’ goals. Sierra Fraser had an assist.

Charlevoix 8

Boyne City 0

Charlevoix scored five goals in the first half en route to an 8-0 Lake Michigan Conference win over Boyne City.

Senior forward Hannah Herboldsheimer led the scoring with three goals. Freshman midfielder Kylee Scholten added two while Anna Way, Katie Kiteley and Grace Whitley contributed one.

The Rayders had 25 shots on goal. Goalkeepers Gloria Greene and Bailee Stevens shared the shutout.

The Rayders travel to Harbor Springs on Saturday.
