---- — Nine girls and three boys from the area were named to the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Academic All-State teams, BCAM has announced.
Among the honorees are six players who carry a 4.0 grade point average, including Kody Kleinrichert and Liza Erickson of Traverse City St. Francis, Scott Parkinson of Grayling, Kari Borowiak and Christina Smith of Gaylord St. Mary and Mariah Ehrke of Onaway. The others were Traverse City West’s Jeremiah Williams (3.63), Petoskey’s Kelsey Ance (3.63) and Megan Tompkins (3.87), Glen Lake’s Scotlyn Brengman (3.85), Kingsley’s Autumn Goggin (3.74) and Johannesburg-Lewiston’s Abby Schlicher (3.94).
To qualify for the all-state team, players must be nominated by their coach, be either a junior or senior, have a GPA of 3.5 or better and be listed on the Associated Press, Detroit News, Detroit Free Press or BCAM all-state teams.
