BUCKLEY — Benzie Central took first place in both races on Tuesday to sweep the Greater Northwest Conference meet at Buckley.

The Huskies won the boys meet with 41 points.

Ismael Halaweh was sixth (17:22.51), Andrew Hayden was seventh (17:37), Justin Prange was eighth (17:47.61), Max Gaft took ninth (17:50.39) and Jared Bluhm was 11th (17:53.88).

Kingsley's Jake Keena was fifth (17:11), Dylan Zenner was 18th (18:34), Austin Olson took 20th (18:42), Richard Durecki was 21st (18:53) and Marcus O'Hara was 27th (19:10). Suttons Bay's Alex Kraft took 14th (18:10.33).

Benzie Central's girls won with 20 points while Kingsley was second with 89.

The Huskies took the top two spots with Alyssa Bennett (19:14.65) and Bryce Cutler (19:54.46). Makayla Huddleston was fourth (20:57.22), Rachael Peabody was seventh (21:15.83) and Sarah Jones was 11th (21:30.32).

For Kingsley, Jenny Pearson was 20th (22:41), Sarah Lueck was 26th (23:01), Courtney Adams finished 28th (23:12), Skyla Ginzel was 36th (24:09) and Alexis Keena finished 38th (24:18). Buckley's Marlee Harris was third (20:47.27), Glen Lake's Kaitlin Grigg was sixth (21:09.79) and teammate McKenna Turrill was ninth (21:26.48).

CROSS COUNTRY

St. Francis girls top Manistee in dual

St. Francis competed in a dual against Manistee and the Glads took the girls race 28-29.

SF freshman Holly Bullough finished second in 19:44 while Lauren Buckel was fifth (23:07), Maddy Danz was sixth (23:07), Krissi Dressler was seventh (23:09) and Erin McDonnell was eighth (23:37). Annie Lyman helped clinch the win by finishing ninth (24:05).

Manistee's Annie Fuller won in 19:31.

In the boys race, Manistee won 17-46. Highlighting the St. Francis runners was Mark Mol in fourth (18:52).

SOCCER

TC West      9 Ogemaw Heights      1

Brandon Montgomery scored three goals with an assist as TC West beat Ogemaw Heights 9-1 in a Big North road victory.

The Titans (10-2-3, 7-0-1 BNC) had two goals from Hunter Lumsden, a goal and an assists from Christien Geiger and goals from Brad Richey, Evan Tumey and Lucas Meyer.

Tim Taylor and Noah Cobb each had two assists while Austin Sanders and Zach Baker each had one. Noah Withey was in net.

TC Central      0 Alpena      0

TC Central and Alpena played to a 0-0 Big North Conference tie.

The Trojans had Colin Lesoski in net, who didn't make a save. At the other end, the Trojans took 10 shots.

TC Central's JV won 5-0 behind Elliot Stratton and Jack Stevenson in net. Connor Hansen had two goals while Josh Belcher, Alex Oliver and Scottie May each scored one.

The Trojans host Petoskey on Thursday.

Elk Rapids      5 Gaylord      0

Elk Rapids earned a 5-0 non-conference win over Gaylord.

The Elks had a goal and two assists each from Jesse Starr and Austin McMullen. Spencer LaPointe, Jake Klein and Andy Atkinson all had a goal while Talon Felker had an assist.

Timmy Barber made six saves for the shutout.

Burt Lake NMCA      5 Roscommon      1

Burt Lake NMCA moved to 6-0 in the Northern Michigan Soccer League with a 5-1 win over Roscommon.

The Eagles (9-6) had four goals from Aaron Chatfield while Alex Vandeyacht also scored. Jake Lovitt and Andrew Vandeyacht each had an assist.

Burt Lake NMCA is at Forest Area on Friday.

Bellaire      2 McBain NMC      0

Bellaire beat ninth-ranked McBain NMCA, 2-0.

The Eagles (11-4, 5-1 NMSL) had two first-half goals from Hunter Rowe. Drew Emery drew the assist on the second score.

Rowe, Colin May and Nick Betten had big defensive nights in front of Adam Crandall, who made seven saves.

Benzie Central's Andre Tierra scored two goals for a 2-1 win over Manistee.

Christon Lee had an assist for the Huskies (3-3-4) while Paul Dumas made 11 saves. Benzie hosts Northport today.

VOLLEYBALL

Benzie Central rallied for a 25-17, 25-19, 17-25, 22-25, 15-12 Northwest Conference win over Kinglsey, handing the Stags their first league loss.

The Huskies (20-3-10) had 23 kills, seven digs and three blocks from Madison Lutzke, 12 kills, seven aces and five blocks from Jenna Gauthier, five kills and 15 digs for Maggie Geetings, seven kills for Autumn Hagelstein and 41 assists, 11 digs and five aces for Molly Lehn.

Kingsley (24-5-3, 3-1 NWC) had 12 kills and six blocks from Amanda Youker, three kills and 13 digs from McKenzie Meeker, 13 digs and 17-17 serving for Katie Garey, 20 kills, three blocks, 12 digs and 19-19 serving from Katie Travis, 40 assists and 20-20 serving for Leah Hall, eight digs and 20-22 serving from Lilly Travis and Lindsey Weber with 12-13 serving with nine digs.

Leland swept Glen Lake in Northwest Conference action, 25-18, 25-14, 25-14.

The Comets (26-7-2, 4-0 NWC) had 10 aces, five kills, five digs and 13 assists from Sammie Sterkenburg, four aces and nine kills from Andrea Hunt, five kills and six digs from Whitney Schaub and three aces and four kills for Noa Yaakoby. Freshman Maddie Trumball had three kills in her first varsity game.

Leland is at TC Christian on Thursday.

Suttons Bay earned a 25-13, 25-16, 25-21 Northwest Conference win over Buckley.

The Norse had eight aces, eight digs and eight assists from Jayne McFarlan, four kills and two digs from Kailey Capron, five kills and four digs for Larissa Hunter, six aces on 14-15 serving from Mikela Wilson while Chantel Konopka had nine digs and two aces on 15-15 serving.

St. Francis      3 Elk Rapids      0

St. Francis moved to 6-0 in the Lake Michigan Conference with a 25-18, 25-15, 25-12 home win over Elk Rapids.

The Glads — ranked No. 5 in Class C with a 24-4-3 record — had seven kills, four digs and two blocks from Bridget Bussell while Kaitlyn Hegewald had 16 assists and four aces. Madeline Rysztak had seven digs and two blocks, Sophie Spencer had four kills and two aces while Olivia Hardy had three blocks.

St. Francis hosts honorable mention Boyne City next Tuesday.

Forest Area picked up a 25-6, 25-15, 25-17 Ski Valley Conference win over Mancelona.

The Warriors (24-8-1, 4-1 SVC) had 14 digs and three aces from Emily Gonyer, Kourtni Birgy had eight aces and four kills while Tabitha Cecil had six kills.

Forest Area is at Joburg on Saturday and hosts Pellston next Tuesday.

TC Christian swept Ellsworth, 25-16, 27-25, 25-19.

The Sabres (12-15-2) had six kills from Mikayla Brett, 10 kills, three blocks and three aces from Maddie White, three kills and four digs from Laura Murray, six digs for Lauren Webb, three kills, three aces, six digs and 11 assists for Shannon Ufer and three aces, three digs and 10 assists from Aubrey Heersema.

GOLF

Glen Lake      209 Manistee      231

Glen Lake picked up a 209-231 golf dual win over Manistee at Mistwood.

The Lakers had the medalist with Nicole Pace's 49. Skylar Gleason shot 50, Brianna Flores had 54 and Madison Hill shot 56.

Manistee's Megan VanderWeele and Ivy Edens each shot 56.

SWIMMING

Manistee      111 Traverse City      74

Manistee picked up a 111-74 win over host Traverse City.

Olivia Verellen won twice for Traverse City, taking the 200 freestyle (2:13.16) and 100 butterfly (1:07). Erin Cover won the 50 free (26.77) and Suha Augenstein won diving (193.35).

Bailey MacDermaid was second in the 100 backstroke (1:18.56). Cover and Verellen teamed with Becky Stanwick and Lauren Pflughoeft for second in the 200 medley relay (2:08.24). Cover, Pflughoeft, Verellen and Madison Thompson were second in the 200 free relay (1:55.47) while Cover, Pflughoeft, Haley Hushak and Amy Brinkerhoff were second in the 400 relay (4:17.88).

TENNIS

TC Central and Petoskey split a Big North JV match, 4-4.

The Trojans won all four doubles flights with Ben Brown/Andrew Froese (6-3,6-4), Ben Cockfield/Luke Fagerstrom (7-6,6-4), Nate Michno/Nick Friedli (6-1,6-2) and Noah McKenzie/Mack Galante (6-1,4-6,10-7).
