Prep Sports Roundup: Cisnernos records hat trick in TC Central victory

TRAVERSE CITY — Jalyna Cisneros scored a hat trick as Traverse City Central mercied Ogemaw Heights 8-0 by halftime.

Cisneros had 10 goals for the season.

Grace Stanton and Jennifer Rose each had two goals and Enrica Gullo added one.

Julianna Chang had her first career four-point game, assisting on two of Cisneros’ goals, one of Stanton’s and the one by Gullo. Savannah Stevenson, Kalina Pfannenstiel and Katie Ludwig each had one assist.

Carrie Wynkoop notched her first shutout of the season.

Auburn Hills Avondale visits the Trojans (5-11-1, 4-5-1 BNC) today.

In other Big North Conference games, Petoskey beat Alpena 4-0 and Gaylord and Cadillac tied 1-1.


Elk Rapids 2

Boyne City 0

After a scoreless first half, Elk Rapids notched two goals in the last 40 minutes in a 2-0 win over Boyne City.

Jordan McNamara and Megan Henige had the Elks’ goals, with McNamara’s coming three minutes into the half and Henige adding one later on a penalty kick.

Paige Granger was in goal for Elk Rapids, but didn’t need to make any saves.

Elk Rapids (10-4, 9-3 Lake Michigan) travels to Cadillac today.

Manistee 3

Benzie Central 1

Manistee scored the first three goals of the night on the way to a 3-1 win over Benzie Central on a wet, cold day.

The Chippewas outshot the Huskies 17-11.

Benzie got on the board with 15 minutes to play on a goal from Samantha Bennett, assisted by Elisabeth Lindseth.

Weather was a factor in the game as three of the four goals that were scored came on shots that were in the keeper’s hands but slipped away and into the net.

Benzie hosts Suttons Bay today.

Roscommon 2

Burt Lake NMCA 1

Burt Lake Northern Michigan Christian led Roscommon 1-0 at halftime before the Bucks rallied in the second half for a 2-1 Northern Michigan Soccer League victory.

Rebecca Cooper scored an unassisted first-half goal for the Eagles, and Abrielle Good made 16 saves.

“That was our strongest game of the year,” coach Rusty Chatfield said.

Burt Lake (2-8, 1-8 NMSL) hosts McBain Northern Michigan Christian today.
