ELK RAPIDS — Paige Granger stopped four of five shootout kicks to give Elk Rapids a 2-1 victory over the Traverse City Liberty on Monday.
Megan Henige and Carley Patterson scored shootout goals for the Elks, who took the shootout 2-1 after a pair of scoreless 10-minute overtime sessions.
The Liberty took a 1-0 lead on Molly Corcoran’s goal with 1:39 remaining in the first half.
Elk Rapids’ Shelby Rauch evened things up with a penalty-kick goal with 11:07 left in regulation.
Granger made 12 regulation saves, three more in overtime and four in the shootout.
The Elks (6-1, 6-1 Lake Michigan Conference) travel Thursday to Harbor Springs, a team they rallied to beat 2-1 earlier this season.
Leland played its first game on its home field — and made it count.
The Comets struck for seven goals in a 7-1 victory over Kingsley. The game was 3-1 at halftime.
Leading scorers for Leland were Whitney Schaub (three goals, two assists), Libby Munoz (one goal, three assists), Mariela Corona (two goals), Lydia Gulow (one goal) and Miranda Harrison (two assists).
Jessica Fleis made four saves in goal.
The Comets (10-0 overall, 3-0 Northwest Conference), host Glen Lake on Wednesday and then host the inaugural Greg Lingaur Invitational on Saturday, featuring Marquette, Suttons Bay and Cadillac.
Leah Davis scored three goals and Kaylee Scholten tied a school record with four assists as Charlevoix topped Grayling 6-0 in Lake Michigan Conference play.
Julia Doskoch, Elizabeth Way and Kelsey Engstrom also tallied for the Rayders (7-3, 6-1). Mollie Binert made 10 saves for the Vikings (2-5, 2-4 LMC), who host East Jordan on Thursday.
