Prep Track Roundup: Keena, Lueck lead Kingsley to title

BENZONIA — Jake Keena and Jarid Lueck led Kingsley to a win in the Benzie Central Invitational on Monday.

The Stags finished with 189 points. Benzie was second with 175. The Huskies were followed by Suttons Bay (66), Manistee (64) and Grand Traverse Academy (27).

Keena captured the 800 (2:10.5), 1600 (4:44.56) and 3200 (10:57). Lueck took the 110 hurdles (16.23) and 300 hurdles (45.33). He also teamed with Nick Spink, Cam Lee and Claude Ockert to claim the 1600 relay (3:51.72).

Kingsley also had wins from Paul Caballero in the 200 (26.02) and Brandon Seitz in the pole vault (11-6).

Benzie took three events — Aaron Whaley in the high jump (6-0); Tim Smith in the shot put (49-3.5); and Zane Brooks, Jake Williams, Brandon Koyne and Braden Huddleston in the 3200 relay (9:15.3).

Suttons Bay’s Carter Hanson captured the 100 (11.33), long jump (18-8.5) and teamed with Brandon McSawby, Gabe Rittenhouse and Hunter Kolarik to take the 400 relay (48.97).

Adam Arroyo won the discus (122-2) for the Norse.

Manistee’s Carter Eckhardt took the 400 (56.2) and joined Jake Williams, Logan Guenthardt, and Alek Sander to win the 800 relay (1:42.4).

Hamilton powers Benzie to win

Alikay Hamilton powered Benzie Central to a win in its own five-team invitational.

The Huskies finished with 208 points. Grand Traverse Academy was a distant second with 95. The Mustangs were followed by Manistee (91) and Suttons Bay (26.5).

Hamilton captured the 100 (13.3) and 200 (29.38) and teamed with Bryce Cutler, Abbey Clasen and Olivia Brian to claim the 1600 relay (4:30.17).

Ashlie Harris was a double-winner, taking the 100 hurdles (17.59) and pole vault (8-0) for the Huskies. Stephanie Schaub won the 3200 (12:29) and teamed with Cutler, Rachael Peabody and Brian to take the 3200 relay (10:46.7).

Grand Traverse Academy claimed two relays — Sydney McGraw, Molly Ritsema, Claire Palmer and Dakota Morgan in the 400 (56.56) and McGraw, Morgan, Ritsema and Darien Wilson in the 800 (2:01.07).

Kingsley’s Molly Franke swept the throws, winning the shot put (32-11.5) and discus (101-8). Kelsey Graham finsihed first in the long jump (15-4.5).

Manistee’s Ashley Lindeman captured the 800 (2:38.4) and 1600 (5:43.37) while Annie Fuller took the 400 (1:00.52) and high jump (4-10). Jessica Gustad won the 300 hurdles (48.7).
