Olivet: Logan Krieger (TC Central) scored two goals and Ryan McGee (TC Central) made 17 saves as the Comets defeated Hope 18-13.
Michigan State: The Spartans wrapped up the Clemson Invitational on Sunday morning, battling 12 other teams that were ranked or receiving consideration in the national poll as well as challenging conditions that cut short racing on both days of competition.
MSU’s novice boats, which raced as the third varsity (novice eight) and fourth varsity (second novice eight) this weekend, had some solid performances racing all third-varsity and novice boats. On Friday, the 3V was clocked in a time of 7:51.5; nearly a full length ahead of second-place Penn (7:54.9), and was 18 seconds ahead of third-place Louisville; On Sunday morning, the Spartans (7:36.3) were six seats ahead of second-place Indiana (7:39.6), besting Syracuse, Oregon State, Washington State, Clemson and Duke by open water. Monica Hessler (TC West) and Jacqueline Hardy (TC Central) are both part of the novice eight team.
Alma: Allie Nave (Onaway) went 1-for-5 with two runs scored in a 9-6 win over Calvin College. Nave’s 22 runs scored are the most on the team.
Aquinas: Miranda Winowiecki (TC Central) appeared as a pinch runner in both Saints wins over Lourdes on Saturday and a split with Siena Heights during the week. She scored two runs.
Calvin: Janelle Agren (Cadillac) had a big doubleheader performance in a split against Alma. Agren was 1-for-4 with a run scored in a 9-6 loss and 2-for-3 in a 7-6 win.
Cornerstone: Rachel Bode (Manton) had hits in four games, including a 2-for-3 game with an RBI in a 7-5 loss to Hope. Bode also collected hits in games against Hope, Indiana Tech and Davenport.
Detroit: Julia Maksym (Manistee) went 3-for-3 with three RBIs in a 7-6 loss to Illinois-Chicago. Maksym also threw 4.1 innings, allowing seven hits and four runs. In a 2-0 loss to Bowling Green later in the week, Maksym threw six innings, allowing six hits and two runs.
