TC's Dy sisters win GAM titles

BRIGHTON — Traverse City’s Anika Dy and Anci Dy each won their age groups in the sixth annual Golf Association of Michigan Junior Stroke Play Championship.

Anika Dy — the girl’s winner in the top age bracket (13-15) — turns 13 today, but chose to play up a bracket after winning the 12-and-under title last year.

The eighth-grader to be at Traverse City West Middle School shot a second consecutive 75 for 150 and topped Abbey Pierce of Bloomfield Hills by three shots. Kamryn Johnston of Flint was third with an 81 for 166.

Younger sister Anci won the 12-and-under with a nine-hole round of 42 to give her a two-day total of 82. Maggie Pietila of Brighton was second with a 45 for 95.
