Local athletes on All-State Tennis team

TRAVERSE CITY — Two local singles players and a doubles team earned All-State honors from the Michigan High School Tennis Coaches’ Association.

Traverse City Central sophomore Paige Cooley earned All-State in Division 1, while Traverse City St. Francis freshman Amanda Bandrowski was selected in Division 4. Cadillac’s doubles tandem of Katie Bergmann and Morgan Kelley earned honors in Division 3.

Central senior Kelly Milliken was an honorable mention in Division 1, while the Trojans’ doubles flight of Kitty Mast and Elizabeth Pappas and West’s Sydney Diss and Monica Hessler were also honorable mention.

TC Central coach Larry Nykerk was honored as regional coach of the year in Division 1. Grayling’s Mark Sloan won the same award in Division 4.

The Trojans earned academic all-state in Division 1, as did Cadillac in Division 3 and St. Francis and Grayling in Division 4.
