TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City West will face Bloomfield Hills tonight at 6 o’clock in a Division 1 state soccer semifinal at Midland.
The winner will advance to Saturday’s championship game against the Salem-Ann Arbor Skyline winner.
In Division 4, Bellaire takes on Grand Rapids Covenant Christian at 7 o’clock tonight at Cedar Springs. Lansing Christian and Bloomfield Hills Roeper are in the other bracket. The winners collide for the state championship Saturday.
Northport tops Buckley 3-0
BUCKLEY — Northport swept Buckley 25-23, 25-14, 25-19 in a non-conference volleyball match.
The Wildcats were led by Maeze Alflen (one dig, four kills, three aces), Kaelyn Tarsa (two digs, one assist, one kill), Autumn Huck (four digs, six kills, one ace), Anna Hagstrom (one dig, one kill), Mariah Kalchik (two digs, one assist, five kills), Megan Popp (one dig, 14 assists, one kill, three aces), Sarah Schaub (one dig, one ace) and Ashley Pino (one dig, two kills, three aces).
TC Christian blanks Onekama
TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Christian celebrated Senior Night with a 25-5, 25-17, 27-25 win over Onekama.
The Sabres were led by seniors Mikayla Brett (five kills, one block, five aces) and Maddie White (seven kills, three digs, three aces). Abryanna Cannon added seven kills and three blocks.
TC swimmers place seventh
ZEELAND — Traverse City finished seventh in the Zeeland Halloween Invitational.
Saline won the invitational with 653 points. Traverse City — a co-op team between West, Central and St. Francis — had 122.
Olivia Verellen placed 12th in the 200 IM with a personal best 2:25.31 and 11th in the 100 breaststroke with a personal best of 1:15.58.
Natalie Wagner finished 12th in the 100 butterfly with a personal best of 1:09.85 and 13th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:18.24.
Maddy Zimmerman came in 16th in the 50 freestyle with a personal best of 27.72 and 16th in the 100 freestyle with a personal best of 1:01.28.
