Hounds beat Ice Dogs 8-2

TRAVERSE CITY — Jacob Gillis had a hat trick to lead the Traverse City Hounds to an 8-2 victory over the Michigan Ice Dogs.

Gillis led off the scoring 3:53 into the first period. He then added goals at 17:03 into the first and at 16:33 into the second. The final one came short-handed.

Traverse City limited the Ice Dogs to 0-for-5 on the power play and are a perfect 9 for 9 on the penalty kill so far this series.

Other Hounds goals went to Cam Fisher, Scott Luca, Alex Devries, Garrett Cebalt and Jordan Ruterbusch. Fisher and Devries each had two assists.

Traverse City Hounds’ Colton Lewicki stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced.

The Hounds (7-0) host the Ice Dogs today at 1 p.m. to close out the series.

It’s TC’s final home series until Nov. 15.
