PETOSKEY — Marquette returned the favor.
After losing to Petoskey in the second game of the season, the Redettes knocked off the Northmen Monday in a girls Class A district basketball opener with a 53-46 victory.
Marquette moves on to play at TC West on Wednesday. The loss ended a 14-game winning streak for Petoskey (17-3).
Courtney LaFreniere had nine points for the Redettes while Liana Storm and Hunter Viitala each had eight.
Marquette was 16-for-24 from the free-throw line while Petoskey was 3-for-6.
The Northmen had 20 points from Kelsey Ance while Megan Tompkins had 12 points.
TC West 37
TC West hit the road for a 37-28 win over Alpena in the Class A district opener.
The Titans (9-12) now host Marquette on Wednesday.
Kiley Kreple had 12 points, seven rebounds and three steals in the win while Katie Placek had 12 points and five rebounds.
Kingsley avenged a 47-18 loss to Cadillac in early December with a 56-50 triumph in an opening-round Class B district game at Manistee.
The Stags (18-3) will face Ludington on Wednesday.
Autumn Goggin paced Kingsley with 29 points and eight rebounds. Danielle Fulker added six points and had a strong game defensively.
Kingsley led 34-24 at half.
Abbey Fuller, Mary Emington and Selena Golnick all scored 11 points for Cadillac.
St. Francis 64
East Jordan 25
St. Francis moved on in the Class C district with a 64-25 win over East Jordan.
The Gladiators (19-2) host Glen Lake on Wednesday in the semifinals.
Liza Erickson finished with 19 points for St. Francis while Kaitlin Feeney had 10 points. Brianna Newberry had nine points for the Red Devils.
Elk Rapids 40
Elk Rapids stayed alive in the Class C district with a 40-34 win over Charlevoix.
The Elks (12-8) play Boyne City on Wednesday. The teams split in the regular season with each winning on home court.
Rachel Hintz had 12 points while Michelle Costa added 10 points for Elk Rapids. Charlevoix had 12 points from Madeline Boss and 10 each from Sidney Carlson and Courtney Putman.
