Traverse City Central freshman Jon Russel had a big game Saturday in a 4-1 Trojans win at Muskegon Mona Shores.
Russel scored three goals and assisted another for the Trojans (21-3). One of his goals was shorthanded and unassisted.
Nico Saco had a powerplay goal for TC Central while Mitchell Ward, Brady Girard, Cooper Macdonell and Kyle Ludwig all had an assist. Bill Vermetten got the win in net.
TC Central hosts Sault Ste. Marie on Tuesday in the regular season finale.
Cadillac 52 TC Central 39
Cadillac went on a 29-19 run in the second half for a 52-39 Big North Conference win over visiting TC Central.
The Vikings (15-4, 9-2 BNC) had 16 points from Mary Emington while Katlyn Agren had 14 points and Hannah Baker scored 10. Madi Bankey had 12 points for the Trojans (4-13, 3-7 BNC).
TC Central won the JV game 50-29 as Kelsey Acton had 16 points and Rosemary Cook added eight points.
The Trojans took the freshman game 41-13 and moved to 16-1 on the season. Emily Jenkins had 10 points.
Midland visits TC Central on Tuesday.
TCBAA picks up a pair of wins
The TCBAA picked up a pair of wins on Saturday.
First, the Bulldogs hosted Cedarville and avenged a previous loss with a 49-43 victory. Casey Plamondon had 24 points and six rebounds while Molly Plamondon had 15 points.
The Bulldogs (17-2) then hit the road for Northport and emerged with a 35-25 victory. Sarah Plamondon had 10 points, nine rebounds and three steals, Casey Plamondon had 10 points, six rebounds and six steals while Molly Plamondon had 11 points and five steals.
TCBAA is at Elk Rapids on Tuesday.
St. Francis sends four to state finals
Sophomore Eric Wales and juniors Zach Schaub, Matthew Mawby and Jake Khoury are headed to the Division 4 state wrestling finals after placing in the top four at the Rogers City regional.
Schaub is a returning state qualifier from a year ago.
Mawby (13) and Khoury (285) each went 3-1 and placed third. Wales (112) and Schaub (119) went 2-2 and took fourth.
The state finals begin Feb. 28 at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
Two Kingsley wrestlers qualify for state finals
Kingsley hosted the Division 3 regional and moved two wrestlers on to the state finals.
At 171 pounds, Stags junior Brian Lark took fourth place. Josh Parks, a 215-pound senior, also was fourth. Both are first-time qualifiers.
Run ends for TC West frosh
TC West freshman Vincent Priante lost two close matches at Grand Haven's Division 1 regional to see his season come to a close.
Priante fell 6-4 in overtime to Kalamazoo's Javius Cunningham at 103 pounds and then lost 3-2 to Lang Thane from Battle Creek Lakeview.
With a 40-10 record, Priante set the TC West freshman record for wins.
