Prep Sports Roundup: West-Central match switched to Saturday

TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City West-Traverse City Central girls soccer match, scheduled for Tuesday night, was postponed due to the weather.

It has been re-scheduled for Saturday at the Coast Guard field.


Central places 10th at Saline

Traverse City Central finished 10th out of 18 teams at Monday’s Saline Invitational.

The Trojans, who shot a score of 354, were led by Derek Schrank’s 84. Danny Brott finished with an 86, Abe Lewis carded an 89 and Jordan Bultsma a 95.

Central is back in action on Monday in East Lansing.


TC Alliance 44

TB Blues 0

The Traverse City Alliance shut out the Traverse Bay Blues 44-0 in a pre-season friendly match.

Jacob Klingelsmith led the team in scoring four trys, Tyler Morse three and Dan Gallagher one. Klingelsmith added two conversions.

After the game Head Coach Chuck Benson said, “The best thing I saw today with this game was a group of area high school boys coming together, bonding as a team,” Alliance coach Chuck Benson said. “I was happy with our defense, and we will continue to work on the details of the game.”

The Alliance host their first home game against Grand Rapids Catholic Central on April 25 at their new home field near the water tower behind Wuerfel Park.
