TRAVERSE CITY — More teams than ever before competed at Friday’s Traverse City Central Invitational at the Traverse City Country Club, a 16-team event that was won by Harbor Springs.
The Rams shot the low for the day, with a 378, six strokes ahead of runner-up Ludington.
Traverse City West was third with a 393, followed by Glen Lake (394) and the host Trojans (399).
West and Central had the low individuals for the tournament as Central’s Amelia Pezzetti and West’s Taylor Kehoe both shot 85s.
The tournament started in wet conditions, but by the time play was completed it turned out to be a good day for the participants.
“It spit rain, sprinkled, then kind of turned into a heavy mist,” said Central coach Lois McManus. “It was annoying for three holes, then it cleared up. The golf course was in beautiful shape. The girls had a good day. Once it stopped misting the girls actually got warm. It was a great day.”
West also had a 96 from Hunter Kehoe, followed by a 102 from Grace Ellul, a 110 from Nikki Sanford, a 116 from Erica Whiting and a 125 from Summer Slack.
After Pezzetti, Central’s other scores were: Zoe Sobeck (97), Kate Trubac (106), Ashley Hulet (111), Abbie Crick (117) and Molly Smith (127).
Glen Lake was paced by Nichole Cox and Skylar Gleason, each with a 94. Melanie Kulanda and Nicole Pace came in with 103s, while Madison Hill had a 106 and Brianna Flores a 108.
St. Francis was led by Bridget Glasa’s 124. The Gladiators’ other scores included Natalie Olszewski (133), Allison Gravis (168) and Abby Miller (175).
Traverse City West’s junior varsity had the top JV score. The Titans’ scores were: Emily Northway (111), Grace Warren (112), Katie Carns (116), Morgan Harris (122) and Kelsey Gay (130).
Scores for Central’s JV were: Carley Laird (114), Carrie Wynkoop (116), Samantha Mahon (120), Laura Buchanan (124), Meredith Nelson (131) and Victoria Kolo (160).
Also competing from Traverse City was independent Maddie Waldie, who shot a 108.
