TC West football camp slated

TRAVERSE CITY —Traverse City West will host a youth camp on June 12-14 at West Middle School.

Each session runs from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Cost of the camp is $30, which includes a camp shirt.

TC Central football camps set

TRAVERSE CITY — The 2013 Trojan Football Camp will be held July 15-18 and July 22-24 this year.

The July 15-18 session I is for players in grades 7-9, while the July 22-24 session II is for grades 3-6. The costs are $65 and $55, respectively. Each runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Shrift named to NHCA all-academic

SUPERIOR, Wis. — Traverse City native Alison Shrift has been named to the 2013 NCHA All-Academic Team.

It was the the second time Shrift — a biology major — earned the honor.

To be named to the NCHA all-academic team, players must carry a minimum of a 3.2 grade point average and have completed a minimum of 50 semester hours. Players must also be a letter winner.

Bass League to visit Cheboygan

CHEBOYGAN — The Walmart Bass Fishing League will make a stop in Cheboygan on June 1.

The BFL Michigan Division will hold an event on Burt and Mullett lakes at a time when bass will be in the pre-spawn to spawn phase. The lake changes from shallow to deep very quickly, and anglers will be targeting these transition areas.

Twenty to 23 pounds is expected to be the winning weight in this tournament. Up to 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing in each event for top awards up to $8,000.
