Three schools dominated the Division 4 track and field championships at Frankfort on Saturday.
Manton, St. Francis and Lake City went 1-2-3 in the boys and girls races.
The Rangers edged St. Francis 152-138.5 in the boys meet. Lake City was a distant third at 103.
Manton enjoyed more breathing room in the girls meet, beating St. Francis 143.75-87. Lake City was third at 57.6.
The Rangers won three of the five field events en route to the girls title. Liz Baller claimed the long jump (15'21/2"), Shellbey Stieg the high jump (4'10") and Hannah Stewart the discus (99'9"). In addition, Stephanie Ingram won the 3200 (12:21.33) and joined Sonny Jenkins, Stacey Baron and Meg Stall in capturing the 3200 relay (10:16.80).
St. Francis, which won six events, was powered by Hannah Meachum, the day's individual star. She swept the 100 (16.22) and 300 (49.42) hurdles, won the pole vault (9') and joined Katy Olsen, Morgan McCardel and Leslie Kociemba on the victorious 1600 relay (4:21.05). Olsen claimed the 800 (2:24.72) and McCardel the 1600 (5:25.01).
Frankfort's Britt Frantz won the 200 (26.24) and was on two winning relays. She teamed with Gracie Putney, Noel Bigley and Keeton Spencley to win the 400 (53.31). She joined forces with Spencley, Liz Bowman and Cassie Kramer to take the 800 (1:52.19).
Grand Traverse Academy's Rachel Zeppa captured the 100 (12.51), Marion's Tori Gillespie the 400 (1:00.35) and Glen Lake's Dani Frost the shot put (34'101/2").
Matt Brettschneider and Jacob Porter led the Rangers to victory in the boys meet. Brettschneider won the 3200 (10:20.73) and Porter the 800 (2:01.16). The two teamed with Ryan Bredahl and Jacob Cuthbert to win the 3200 relay (8:18.29). Teammate Ben Denomme won the shot put (45'83/4") to go with a second in the discus.
St. Francis won six events on the boys side as well. Brady Mikula took the long jump (19'83/4"), Dana Larsen the 400 (52.58) and Ben Swan the 200 (22.78). In addition, the Gladiators captured three relays. Taylor Hennrick, Swan, Ryan Farley and Jacob Schell won the 400 (45.0); Schell, Jonathan Morse, Larsen and Swan the 800 (1:32.91); and Matt Zakrzewski, Mikula, Hennrick and Larsen the 1600 (3:36.33).
Lake City's Josh Berry owned the hurdles, winning the 110 highs (15.06) and 300 intermediates (40.66).
McBain's Benjamin Damhof took the 100 (11.2) and Randy Sterk the 1600 (4:42.54). Frankfort's Shawn Waara captured the high jump (6'2"), Marion's Elliott Wilson the pole vault (12'9") and McBain Northern Christian's Natahn Dekam the discus (147'9").
