Glen Lake advanced in the Class C district

FROM STAFF REPORTS

TRAVERSE CITY -- Glen Lake advanced in the Class C district at St. Francis by beating a league foe for the third time on Monday.

Now the Gladiators have to do the same.

Glen Lake advanced to Wednesday's semifinal against Charlevoix with a 56-50 triumph over Suttons Bay. St. Francis advanced to face East Jordan after beating Mancelona 70-50.

In the opener on Monday, the Lakers (12-9) shook off a 29-23 halftime deficit by outscoring the Norse 16-6 in the third quarter.

"It is a hard thing to do to beat a team three times, especially since we just played them on Thursday," Lakers coach Todd Hazelton said.

Ryan Dyksterhouse led Glen Lake with 15 points while Kyle Klumpp added 14. Matt O'Brien chipped in 12.

Andy Wheelock had 12 points and Dwuan Anderson nine for Suttons Bay (10-11).

In the nightcap on Monday, St. Francis used its 1-2 punch of Holden Greiner and Corey Williams to knock out Mancelona.

Greiner finished with 23 points, nine rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks while Williams added 21 points and eight boards.

Jacob Schell and Max Bullough each added five points for the Glads (18-3). Bullough and five rebounds and Schell four to help St. Francis to a 33-16 edge on the glass.

Greg Blanco had 19 points Adam Duerksen 11 for Mancelona (12-8).
