Glads blow out Rudyard

If the pass defense is Traverse City St. Francis weakness, opposing teams left in the Division 7 state tournament are in trouble. The Gladiators held pass-oriented Rudyard in check Friday for a blowout win in the Division 7 district final at Thirlby Field.....more>>

    Johannesburg-Lewiston rallied from a 13-0 first-quarter deficit to defeat St. Ignace in a Division 8 district championship game.

    Cadillac topped the hosts to claim a Class B district championship.

    For the second straight week, Traverse City St. Francis is breaking down the Bulldogs. But while Rudyard and Inland Lakes may share the same nickname, the teams couldn't be more different -- at least offensively -- as the Gladiators set for the second round of the playoffs.

    Forest Area lived up to its nickname Tuesday. The Warriors fought back from a two-game deficit and rallied one more time in the decisive fifth game for a marathon win over Suttons Bay in the Class C district opener at Traverse City St. Francis.

  • Norse soccer looks to take the next step
    What started off slow seems to be only picking up steam. After Suttons Bay started the season with three losses and two ties in its first five contests, probably not a lot of people were thinking the Norsemen had a shot at the state finals. But coach Randy U'Ren was.

  • Manistee CC, MCE win volleyball semis
    Manistee Catholic and Mason County Eastern advanced to the Division 4 district volleyball semifinals at Frankfort on Monday.

  • Trojan girls head to finals
    Traverse City Central is heading back to the state finals. The defending Division 1 state champion girls will be at Michigan International Speedway to defend their title after finishing third at Saturdays regional at Carson City-Crystal.

  • Huskies take regional titles
    Host Benzie Central hoisted two regional trophies on Saturday.
    The Huskies finished first in both the boys and girls Division 3 regional meets, as part of a full day of cross country.

  • Hall notches 500th win, Stags take tourney
    Dave Hall racked up his 500th career coaching win as Kingsley won the Forest Area Invitational, defeating the hosts in the final.

  • Glads take Kerridge ride
    Joey Kerridge scored five times and led the St. Francis to a Division 7 pre-district win over Inland Lakes.

    Frankfort, Manistee Catholic move on

  • Roundup: Norse fall in first round
    Suttons Bay scored on its first possession, but was held in check the remainder of the game Friday in a Division 6 pre-district loss to Sanford-Meridian (Plus, more football).

    Wolverine senior Jeremy Egas and Maddie Buntin of Harbor Springs were individual medalists Friday in the Division 4 cross country meet at Sports Park in Ellsworth.
