CHASKA, Minn. -- So close.
Grand Traverse Resort & Spa head pro Scott Hebert was on the brink of making the cut at the 91st PGA Championship Friday, but bogeys on the final two holes left him on the outside looking in for the weekend.
"I'll take my usual frustration of missing by one," Hebert said when asked what he would take away from the week. "But, I don't know, it's fun. It's nice to play in these and see what they're like. But mostly frustration."
Hebert also missed the cut at the Buick Open earlier this month by a stroke.
After shooting an even-par 72 on Thursday, Hebert dropped down the leaderboard towards the projected cut Friday after bogies on the third, fifth and seventh holes.
A bogey-5 at 12 put him at 4-over for the Championship and on the cut line, but he appeared to be safe after a birdie at the par-4 16th. However, bogeys on 17 and 18 put him tied for 81st at 5-over par and out of the tournament.
"At 17, my ball was plugged under the lip," Hebert said. "And then 18, it catches, the wind's blowing left to right, hits on the left side and hops left and halfway down the slope and the bunker. It's one of those things in golf."
