Snowshoe races set for Feb. 23
CENTRAL LAKE -- Snowshoe racers and outdoor enthusiasts are invited to race through the woods and alongside Torch Lake on Feb. 23.
There will be 5K and 10K options, along with a free fun walk around the property of YMCA Camp Hayo-Went-Ha.
There will be prizes for both male and female winners in all age groups. Registration is $10 in advance and $15 on race day.

Help wanted: DNR hiring for summer
LANSING -- The Department of Natural Resources is now hiring to fill summer jobs at state parks, visitor centers and fish hatcheries.
Anyone interested in working for DNR Interpretive Services may apply by filling out an employment application at one of 10 major interpretive sites including the The Carl T. Johnson Hunting and Fishing Center near Mitchell State Park in Cadillac, the Michigan Forest Visitor Center at Hartwick Pines State Park near Grayling and the Oden State Fish Hatchery Visitor Center about six miles east of Petoskey.
Jeep Terrain Park Challenge slated
THOMPSONVILLE -- The Jeep Terrain Park Challenge, which promotes safety and responsibility at terrain parks, will host a safety clinic and competition on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Crystal Mountain.
In terrain parks, skiers and snowboarders navigate through a series of obstacles while also performing tricks in the air.
