Given Traverse City’s experience with Clinch Park and Grand Traverse County’s septage plant fiasco, the firm hired by the city to design a proposed fishing pier better have plenty of experience - and insurance.
Just about everyone by now knows how badly the city’s effort to turn Clinch into a bayside playground went. A splash pad that was to be the centerpiece of that park ended up spewing raw sewage on little kids.
The septage plan literally broke a month after it opened.
Both projects were designed by firms with little or no experience doing the exact jobs they were hired to do. That can’t happen again.
