Evening garden club has Christmas party

Acme — A potluck and a white elephant gift exchange will highlight the Sweetwater Evening Garden Club's Christmas party.

The get-together will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at the Masonic Lodge on M-72. The public is invited.

Local humanist group plans meeting

Traverse city — Tonight's meeting of the Grand Traverse Humanists will focus on end-of-life issues and the humanist view.

The meeting will start at 7 p.m. today at the Traverse Area District Library, 610 Woodmere Ave.

Attorney Linda Wasielewski will discuss advance directives and Vaughn Seavolt from Life Story Funeral Home will present a funeral option that is a remembrance and celebration of life.

Community invited to Christmas meal

Grayling — The community is invited to a Christmas dinner at the Grayling Senior Center.

The meal will be served from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the senior center, 308 Lawndale. The cost is $2.50 for adults ages 60 and older and $5.25 per person for those 59 and younger.

Celebration will mark winter solstice

Traverse City — The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Traverse City will celebrate the return of light and the turning point of the year on winter solstice, Tuesday, Dec. 21.

The celebration will start at 6 p.m. at the UU Congregation, 6726 Center Road. Child care will be available and a small reception will follow the celebration. If staying for the reception, bring a simple dessert or light appetizer and a beverage.
